Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canary Islands being approximately 30 miles in size, and is situated just 70 miles from the African coast. The dry sunny climate can be virtually relied on throughout the winter as well as the summer. Average rainfall is only 4 inches per year.
Many activities are available on the island such as windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, tennis and golf (30 minutes drive). There are miles of golden sandy beaches and many places of interest to visit.
The flight to Lanzarote takes approximately 4 hours from Gatwick. Flights are available from other airports in the U.K. Taxis are available at the airport, the journey to Playa Blanca taking approximately 25 minutes. Car hire on the island is very reasonable and can be arranged in advance to meet you at the airport. A U.K. licence is acceptable. There is a bus service connecting Playa Blanca to the capital Arrecife and to Puerto del Carmen.
Our apartment is situated a few minutes walk outside the village of Playa Blanca, and has excellent sea views. There are swimming pools on the complex, the larger one having a pool bar, there is a wonderful enclosed beach nearby. As we own the property ourselves, and have visited the island frequently over several years, we would be very happy to answer any questions that you may have.
